A Reposition maneuver moves the target to any adjacent square of your choice — including behind you, to your side, or into a flanking position for allies. Unlike Bull Rush (away only) or Drag (toward you only), Reposition gives you full directional control. It was introduced in the Advanced Player's Guide and is part of the standard PRD maneuver list.

Performing a Reposition

Action Standard action
Provokes AoO Yes, from the target — unless you have Improved Reposition

Check d20 + CMB vs. target's CMD

Results

Success (CMB ≥ CMD)

  • Move the target to any adjacent square of your choice.
  • For every 5 by which your CMB exceeds the CMD, move the target an additional 5 feet along a straight path from its original position.
  • You may move with the target to maintain adjacency at the cost of your own movement.

Failure (CMB < CMD)

  • The target is not moved.
  • No condition is applied to either creature.

Tactical Uses

  • Set up flanking. Move an enemy so that two allies end up on opposite sides of it, granting both +2 on attack rolls.
  • Break formation. Reposition a spellcaster or archer out of a protected back-line into melee range of your allies.
  • Force difficult terrain. Move the target into a square of difficult terrain, hindering its movement on its next turn.
